The “Superpowers of Libraries and Archives” is in Section 108.  Tucked away between Fair Use and First Sale, section 108 reveals the special role and privilege libraries have under copyright law.  The naturally transformative nature of library work, combined with these Super Powers, creates an environment where libraries can and should take advantage to determine the varying risk levels surrounding their work, whether reproduction, digitization, interlibrary loan, or an array of activities. Come hear about the potential new Section 108 revision, the addition of other cultural institutions, and the little used and mysterious Section 108(h)! This session will explore the past, present, and future of section 108 through a fun, interactive session.
