Accessibility Track Workshop: The Whole is Greater than the Sum of Its Parts: Connecting with Partners to Enhance Library Accessibility Services

Equitable service to users with disabilities requires a deliberative, coordinated effort with multiple partners on campus, in higher education, and in the accessibility community. Spurred into action by an initial inability to deliver relevant accessible content to a user with print disabilities, bolstered by resolutions in the Marrakesh Treaty, and inspired by accessibility services at other libraries, we developed a framework for understanding our institutional environment and the broader accessibility context in higher education. Leveraging the expertise of internal and external partners and utilizing the principles of evidence-based decision-making, we reimagined and implemented enhanced library services for users with disabilities.
