Siyao Cheng is a doctoral student at the School of Information Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). With a keen focus on the intersection of law, education, and information sciences, her research is dedicated to unraveling the complexities of copyright education and everyday information behavior. Her work delves into how individuals understand and navigate copyright laws in their daily interactions with information and media. Currently, Siyao is exploring the legal protection of traditional cultural expressions (TCEs) beyond the scope of copyright protection, investigating alternative legal frameworks and mechanisms to safeguard TCEs.
