Bio

Nancy Sims is an attorney and a librarian (JD UMich; MLIS Rutgers). Nancy has always been fascinated by the intersections of social reality with legal and policy structures around technology and human culture; and has been working on copyright issues at the University of Minnesota for about 10 years. Nancy's job is not to be the "copyright police" on campus, but rather to help individuals and groups throughout the University and in the broader community understand how copyright may affect their work. Nancy's goal both at the University of Minnesota and in other contexts is always to provide accurate information, but also to advocate for policies and practices that support sustainable scholarship, democratic information access, and wide public cultural participation.
