Claudia Holland is Associate Professor and Scholarly Communication Coordinator at Mississippi State University Libraries, Starkville. She was previously Head of Scholarly Communication and Copyright at George Mason University Libraries in Fairfax, VA for ten years. Claudia’s experience runs the gamut of scholarly communication but her strong suits are copyright in higher education, open access publishing, institutional repositories (not the back end), and open educational resources. She is passionate about building connections to affect change in open access to research and student access to higher education. Her recent article, “Streaming Media in an Uncertain Legal Environment: A Model Policy and Best Practices for Academic Libraries,” was published in the Journal of Copyright in Education and Librarianship. Claudia is an active member of the leadership group for the Open Scholarship Initiative, “a global, large-scale, multi-stakeholder effort to improve the flow of information within research and between researchers, policymakers, funders and the public.”
