Interlibrary loan is a core service that allows libraries to identify gaps in their collections, allows underfunded and rural libraries to provide more resources to their users, and should not disappear solely due to changing formats. Because streaming video is a newer medium, libraries are accepting restrictive license agreements that reduce digital inclusion and contribute to the loss of traditional library services like interlibrary loan. This session will describe Auraria Library’s initiative to create a process for streaming video ILL, and will explore the legal hurdles inherent in resource sharing and streaming video.
