It is incumbent upon librarians/educators to understand the complex digital copyright environment that OER will live in. This session discusses the challenges of copyright in the creation of OER. It includes an interactive activity in which participants will practice selecting public domain/creative commons resources in realistic scenarios of OER production. Participants will leave with a repertoire of resources and practical applications that can be used to empower educators to create OER in their own contexts. Session participants are highly encouraged to bring a laptop for use in the session, though having one is not a requirement for participation.
