When working through copyright issues, other areas of the law occasionally come into play, including privacy considerations and trademarks. This 75 minute program will be two programs in one!  We will devote the first part of our session to fundamentals of U.S. privacy law, namely privacy law considerations in publishing; examples from the U.S. regulatory and other legal environments as to privacy; and, an individual’s privacy as to book purchases. The second part of our session will focus on trademark and branding law, also as to publishing – we will address what is a trademark vs. a copyright, how marks are developed, strong vs. weak trademarks, Federal registration, and trademark maintenance.
